Maurizio Cunningham-Brown
Founder & Group CEO
Maurizio is a successful businessman and serial entrepreneur with 30 years of global experience in information systems, IT, logistics, energy, automotive, financing, marketing, investment, property and commercial lending. He has a track record of successfully developing, growing, and selling businesses internationally by integrating diverse technologies, people and methods. Many of his developments are still used to this day.
His career includes setting up and growing companies in North America, Mexico, Asia Pacific and Europe, with yearly revenues in excess of $600m. He co-founded Alison Sri, which was ultimately sold to Snap-on [NYSE – SNA] for $523m.
Maurizio is internationally well connected and is well known for his views on global future energy needs. He founded UBC to help drive achievement of carbon Net Zero by introducing new technology that reduces and ultimately eliminates CO2 emissions in the largest polluting sector next to energy, namely travel.
Maurizio is determined and forthright, generating a positive impact on every organisation he is involved with.

Malcom Earp
Group Chief Operating Officer
Malcolm is highly experienced in developing disruptive technology, AI and future mobility strategy. He has more than 35 years of global automotive industry experience. He has a BSc in Industrial Chemistry.
His career includes leading global teams in the application of technology change in OEMs and their supply chain. Malcolm specialises in developing technology businesses in the digital age, organisational restructuring, and market start-ups.
Malcolm is one of the most internationally connected executives in the automotive industry. He is well known for his predictions of future vehicle technology, mobility, usage, and ownership, and is a keynote speaker on these subjects.
Malcolm is widely experienced in managing complex international projects, and skilled in forming and maintaining partnerships with suppliers and clients, and driving commercial advantage.
He has a reputation for motivating teams and mentoring individuals, to help them achieve their full potential.
Dr Keith Ellis
Chief Technology Officer
Keith is an acknowledged expert in the field of battery research and development. He is the author of many technical papers and named inventor on multiple patents. Keith is a regular presenter at energy conferences.
Keith is a PhD electrochemical engineer with over 15 years of experience in battery innovation.
He has worked on a wide range of electrochemical related industrial projects. These include solar power, oil pipeline corrosion, chemical processing, and composite material degradation of US Navy jet aircraft.
Keith was Chief Technology Officer at Atraverda and is a successful innovator. He is the named inventor on patents protecting ceramic processing, as well as materials and fabrication methods for batteries.
Keith has a reputation for successfully commercialising technologies, as well as developing new ideas.
Brian Stark
Group CFO
Brian is a Harvard MBA with 35 years of experience in financial management, cost control, strategic planning, and organisational restructuring.
His career has spanned many industries and he has achieved wide ranging experience in multiple fields.
As Divisional CFO at Ford, Brian was instrumental in driving multiple business strategies. These included financial expansion, financial re-structuring and company acquisitions. Brian orchestrated the planned Ford New Holland IPO, which led to its subsequent successful sale to Fiat Group.
Brian has also enjoyed a very satisfying global consulting career. His many achievements included turning around a moribund heavy machinery manufacturer. He created a bespoke, disciplined framework, with major focus on competitors, to enhance the planning processes for multiple clients. And he improved OEM evaluation of automotive suppliers, using a unique “Leadership in Customer Satisfaction” process.
Brian is not a typical CFO. He understands the challenges inherent in bringing new products to market, along with their associated expenditures and competitor behaviours.
Dave Sweeney
Chief Manufacturing Officer
Dave is a highly experienced operations executive and has held senior engineering and manufacturing roles for almost 20 years. His track record includes leading the achievement of business growth plans in both domestic and international organisations.
Dave is highly educated and has gained BEng, BSc and MBA degrees.
Dave is an advocate for cleaner technology solutions to transportation needs, and champions sustainability goals. He joins Ultimate Battery Company at an exciting time in its development, with a brief to deliver and maintain a world class operations facility.
Paul Mitchell
Director of ESG
Paul is an award winning environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategist. He has over 30 years of experience, working in the public, private and third sectors.
An experienced project and programme leader, Paul has established and led charities throughout his career. He has generated company-wide social responsibility and social value for all the organisations he has worked with.
Paul has delivered multi-million-pound programmes for government departments through externally funded programmes. These initiatives have supported more than 1,000 people into sustained employment and apprenticeships.
Paul is extremely well connected across multiple sectors. He helps to support community-led organisations to generate funding, and create employment and training opportunities. He has led, developed, and implemented Social Return on Investment (SRoI) impact analysis, delivering over £50m Social Value Impact. He is also an expert in HACT and TOMS reporting.
Paul has a reputation for guiding and nurturing talent and is seen as friendly and approachable.
